My Way Home Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, all volunteer, rescue organization based in Portland, Oregon and dedicated to saving the lives of unwanted and neglected dogs. We have foster homes throughout Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington.
Our adoption fee is $400. If the dog is too young to spay or neuter we also require a $300 deposit which is refunded when you provide proof of spay/neuter after your dog is altered. We are 100% volunteers with no paid employees, so all of our funds go to rescuing dogs – mostly veterinary bills. We take care of our dogs medically prior to adoption to ensure as best we can that you are getting a healthy dog. We of course cannot check for every malady, but if the dog shows any issues we will investigate and treat. We love these dogs and take care of them as if they were our own. Typically (and depending on age) your new dog will have been spayed/neutered, have had vaccines for DHPP, will have been de-wormed, had flea/tick treatment and had heart worm test and treatment if positive.
We do not maintain a physical shelter with empty cages so if you need to re-home your family dog we can only accept her into our rescue if we currently have a foster family available. We also offer a “foster-in-place” program whereby we will list your dog on Petfinder and social media and help you find him a new home but the dog stays with you until we have either found a new home for her or one of our foster families becomes available. You may contact us to see if you qualify for the foster-in-place program.
